While Web surfing the other day, I stumbled
across a site which was condemning those who
proclaim God's Word of eternal life (eternal
security). In fact, those are the search words I
used to find this sad site. I felt led to respond and
here is a much expanded version of what I said in
an e-mail. I believe these words have validity to
all who question/teach that God's Free Gift by His
grace of eternal salvation as a "dangerous
doctrine" and therefore live in fear themselves
and/or want others to live in fear of a wrathful
God whom at any moment, might zap them from
the Lamb's Book of Life if they do something to
displease Him after He so graciously gave them
the free gift of salvation.
You see, most "Christians"
agree that God's
saving you is a free gift, but some think that
keeping yourself saved is up to YOU and how
well YOU perform. This type of thinking is
Scriptually Impossible as briefly explained below.
It boils down to one thing: Either you Believe
what God says in His Word or you call Him a Liar.
This
is my reply:
Dear web author:
I
am sorry that you have to work so hard to stay in God's good
graces. Because His people were/are bound by legalism,
is
the very reason God sent His son to us to set us free. Gal
5:1
(A wonderful study on this subject is Romans, in it's entirety.)
I
try to walk with Jesus and honor God each day of my life and
I too am concerned that so many saved people do not
do
"good works" because they are saved (not
to be saved). I am
very glad I am not God because I would surely erase those
disobedient carnal Christians names from the book of life.
Thankfully, my God doesn't have an eraser, He just
has
Amazing Grace! Only He knows the heart of
His chrildren, I
do not? Certinally there are penalties for sin, such as loss
of
blessings and rewards but never loss of salvation.
Once I
am born again I can never be unborn.
God
says what He means and He does what He says. His
promises have and are kept even if mind are not Rom
11:29.
If He were to go back on His word, He
would deny
Himself ! 2Tim
2:13.
He would no longer be perfect.
Simply put, He would not be God!!
And
further, Jesus would have come to earth, died and rose
again completely in vain. Gal
2:21.
What does "One sacrifice
once for all Heb
10:10,
Sealed by the spirit Eph 1:13,
Eternal life John
5:24, 1John 2:25, John 6:37-39, John 10:28,
Rom 8:2,
Perfected forever Heb
10:14,
etc" mean to you?
How
prideful and egotistical it is to even suggest that you
could earn your own salvation and/or even to buy
it back
after you mess up and forget or just don't repent (change your
mind) for something you did that put you out of fellowship
with God. Should Jesus have to come back again and again
to
sacrifice for your sins over and over? Shame on you. Heb
6:6.
His work is completed, it's done
and I accept
His once and
for all redemption. Praise God! He chose me, drew me
to
Himself and saved me because I trusted Christ's sacrifice
as full payment for my sins.. So now, will He put me
back
where He found me because I am still flesh and I sin again?
What kind of a Heavenly Father is that? In the resounding
words of the Apostle Paul, "God forbid!"
I
don't have the infinite wisdom nor the unimaginable grace
that God does. That is why I just simply believe His word and
know that as His child, He will discipline me according to
His judgement as my Father not as my excutioner. Rom
8:1,
Heb 12:5-11.
Because once I am truly saved and only God
knows that for sure, I am adopted into His family Eph
1:5,
Tit 3:5, Rom 8:15-17,
Therefore, I will always be His child
no matter what I do. Sin causes loss of Fellowship
NOT
loss of Relationship with my Father. That is Joy
Hab
3:18,
that is Peace Rom
5:1, that
is Hope Col
1:27, 1Th 2:19
,
that is Strength Phil
4:13,
that is Freedom! John
8:22, 36 Rom 8:2
I
am so elated in His acceptance of me, in Christ, being
washed by His blood Rev
1:5,
that I want to praise and glorify
His name, BUT, I am still human and I will sin again no
matter
if I want to or not Gal
5:17.
However, I am not just saved
until I sin again or until I commit the Big one.
Eph
2:8-9
says He gives us His gift of eternal life. And the true
living
God of the Bible is NOT an "Indian Giver".
If you have to
work to earn a gift either before of after you receive it,
It's simply NOT a Gift! Rom 4:5, Ti 5:3
The
Bible says that I am the righteousness of God in Jesus
Christ Rom
3:22
(a Joyce Meyer favorite quote) and nothing
will ever change that. Charles Stanley is right on.
Many
years ago Dr. Stanley was where you are now but, Praise
God, he saw the Light
through didigent study of the Word
of God reveling to him the spirit of truth.
Those
who would try to keep the sheep in line with threats
of losing their salvation, are in Error!! Rom
10:2-4, 2Tim 4:3,
James 3:1, Heb 5:12
Most
of all my unhappy author, I'm sorry that satan has
stolen your joy in the Lord and sorry that your misery loves
company so much that you would try to stear others into your
legalistic plath. May God soon reveal the true
Light
of His
Word to you.In Jesus holy name,
Arlene
